Enemies & Oppression

Rabbanā afrigh ʿalaynā ṣabran wa thabbit aqdāmanā wanṣurnā ʿalal-qawmil-kāfirīn.

Our Lord, pour upon us patience, make our feet firm, and give us victory over the disbelieving people.

[ Surah Al-Baqara 2:250 ]

Rabbanaghfir lanā dhunūbanā wa isrāfanā fī amrinā wa thabbit aqdāmanā wanṣurnā ʿalal-qawmil-kāfirīn.

Our Lord, forgive us our sins and our excesses in our affairs, make our feet firm, and give us victory over the disbelieving people.

[ Surah Aal-i-Imraan 3:147 ]

Ḥasbunallāhu wa niʿmal-wakīl.

Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.

Said by Ibrahim ﷺ when he was cast into the fire, and by the Prophet ﷺ and his companions when they were warned that an army had gathered against them. (Sahih al-Bukhari 4563)

[ Surah Aal-i-Imraan 3:173 ]

Rabbanā akhrijnā min hādhihil-qaryatiẓ-ẓālimi ahluhā, wajʿal lanā min ladunka waliyyan wajʿal lanā min ladunka naṣīrā.

Our Lord, take us out of this town whose people are oppressors, and appoint for us from Yourself a protector, and appoint for us from Yourself a helper.

[ Surah An-Nisaa 4:75 ]

Rabbi innī lā amliku illā nafsī wa akhī, fafruq baynanā wa baynal-qawmil-fāsiqīn.

My Lord, I have power over none but myself and my brother, so separate us from the defiantly disobedient people.

Said by Prophet Musa ﷺ

[ Surah Al-Maaida 5:25 ]

Rabbanaftaḥ baynanā wa bayna qawminā bil-ḥaqqi wa Anta khayrul-fātiḥīn.

Our Lord, decide between us and our people in truth, and You are the best of those who give decision.

Said by Prophet Shuʿayb ﷺ

[ Surah Al-A'raaf 7:89 ]

Rabbanā lā tajʿalnā fitnatan lil-qawmiẓ-ẓālimīn. Wa najjinā biraḥmatika minal-qawmil-kāfirīn.

Our Lord, do not make us a trial for the wrongdoing people, and save us by Your mercy from the disbelieving people.

[ Surah Yunus 10:85-86 ]

Rabbanā innanā nakhāfu an yafruṭa ʿalaynā aw an yaṭghā.

Our Lord, we are afraid that he will hasten against us or that he will transgress.

Said by Prophets Musa and Harun ﷺ

[ Surah Taa-Haa 20:45 ]

Rabbiḥ-kum bil-ḥaqq, wa Rabbunar-Raḥmānul-mustaʿānu ʿalā mā taṣifūn.

My Lord, judge in truth. And our Lord is the Most Merciful, the One whose help is sought against that which you describe.

[ Surah Al-Anbiyaa 21:112 ]

Rabbin-ṣurnī bimā kadhdhabūn.

My Lord, support me because they have denied me.

Said by Prophet Nuh ﷺ

[ Surah Al-Muminoon 23:26 ]

Rabbi najjinī minal-qawmiẓ-ẓālimīn.

My Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people.

Said by Prophet Musa ﷺ

[ Surah Al-Qasas 28:21 ]

Rabbin-ṣurnī ʿalal-qawmil-mufsidīn.

My Lord, support me against the corrupting people.

Said by Prophet Lut ﷺ

[ Surah Al-Ankaboot 29:30 ]

Allāhumma Fāṭiras-samāwāti wal-arḍ, ʿĀlimal-ghaybi wash-shahādah, Anta taḥkumu bayna ʿibādika fī mā kānū fīhi yakhtalifūn.

O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, You will judge between Your servants concerning that over which they used to differ.

The Prophet ﷺ opened his night prayer with these words. (Sahih Muslim 770)

[ Surah Az-Zumar 39:46 ]

Wa ufawwiḍu amrī ilallāh, innallāha Baṣīrun bil-ʿibād.

And I entrust my affair to Allah. Indeed, Allah is Seeing of His servants.

[ Surah Ghafir 40:44 ]

Annī maghlūbun fantaṣir.

I am overpowered, so help me.

Said by Prophet Nuh ﷺ

[ Surah Al-Qamar 54:10 ]

Rabbib-ni lī ʿindaka baytan fil-jannati wa najjinī min Firʿawna wa ʿamalihi wa najjinī minal-qawmiẓ-ẓālimīn.

My Lord, build for me a house near You in Paradise, and save me from Pharaoh and his deeds, and save me from the wrongdoing people.

Said by Asiyah, the wife of Pharaoh

[ Surah At-Tahrim 66:11 ]

Allāhumma innā naj`aluka fī nuḥūrihim wa na`ūdhu bika min shurūrihim.

O Allah, we ask You to restrain them by their necks, and we seek refuge in You from their evil.

[ Abu Dawud 2/89, and Al-Hakim graded it authentic and Ath-Thahabi agreed 2/142. Hisn al-Muslim 126 ]

Allāhumma anta `aḍudī, wa anta naṣīrī, bika ajūlu, wa bika aṣūlu, wa bika uqātil.

O Allah, You are my strength and You are my support. For Your sake, I go forth and for Your sake, I advance and for Your sake, I fight.

Ḥasbunallāhu wa ni`mal-wakīl.

Allah is sufficient for us and the best of those on whom to depend.

Allāhumma Rabbas-samāwātis-sab`, wa Rabba ‘l-`Arshi ‘l-`Aẓīm, kun lī jāran min [here you mention the person's name], wa aḥzābihi min khalā'iqik, an yafruṭa `alayya aḥadun minhum aw yaṭghā, `azza jāruk, wa jalla thanā'uk, wa lā ilāha illā ant.

O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens, Lord of the Magnificent Throne, be for me a support against [such and such a person] and his helpers from among your creatures, lest any of them abuse me or do me wrong. Mighty is Your patronage, and glorious are Your praises. There is none worthy of worship but You.

Allāhu Akbar, Allāhu a`azzu min khalqihi jamī`a, Allāhu a`azzu mimmā akhāfu wa aḥdhar, a`ūdhu billāhi ‘l-ladhī lā ilāha illā hū, almumsikis-samāwātis-sab`i an yaqa`na `ala ‘l-arḍi illā bi idhnih, min sharri `abdika [name of the person], wa junūdihi wa atbā`ihi wa ashyā`ih, mina ‘l-jinni wa ‘l-ins, Allāhumma kun lī jāran min sharrihim, jalla thanā'uk, wa `azza jāruk, wa tabāraka-smuk, wa lā ilāha ghayruk.

Allah is the Most Great, Mightier than all His creation. He is Mightier than what I fear and dread. I seek refuge in Allah, Who there is none worthy of worship but Him. He is the One Who holds the seven heavens from falling upon the earth except by His command. [I seek refuge in You Allah] from the evil of Your slave [name of the person], and his helpers, his followers, and his supporters from among the jinn and mankind. O Allah, be my support against their evil. Glorious are Your praises and mighty is Your patronage. Blessed is Your Name, there is no true God but You. (Recite three times in Arabic.)

Allāhumma munzila ‘l-kitāb, sarī`a ‘l-ḥisāb, ihzimi ‘l-aḥzāb, Allāhumma-hzimhum wa zalzilhum.

O Allah, Revealer of the Book, Swift to account, defeat the groups (of disbelievers). O Allah, defeat them and shake them.

Allāhummak-finīhim bimā shi't.

O Allah, suffice (i.e. protect) me against them however You wish.
